Event Description
"The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote: Words and Music from the Time of Cervantes"
The LA Guitar Quartet, one of today's most multi-faceted instrumental groups, presents a unique adaptation of Miguel de Cervantes' timeless classic in collaboration with voice actor and Firesign Theater member Phil Proctor who brings his mighty voice-acting talents to the role of the Ingenious Knight of La Mancha, Sancho Panza, and a host of other characters.
"The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote," accompanied by new arrangements of music from medieval and Renaissance Spain, captures the humor, poetry, and pathos of this most modern of 17th-century novels and showcases Cervantes' rich language (taken from Edith's Grossman's lauded new translation). Projected images and vibrant music of the day, including works by Narvaez, Encina, Pisador, Milan, and Martin y Coll, serve to enhance an evening of drama, comedy, and sheer magic. |
