Event Description
Thom Ritter George, composer and guest conductor
 
Thom Ritter George will lead performances of his Second Suite in C, First Suite in F and his Concerto for Flute, with soloist Katie Moyer ('11). Dr. George holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the Catholic University of America. He was a composer/arranger for the U.S. Navy Band in Washington from 1966–1970, and since that time has had a varied conducting career in addition to his work as a composer. Director David Niethamer will conduct music from the classic repertoire for wind ensemble, including Ralph Vaughan Williams "Folk Song Suite" on the first half of the program.
