The Department of Latin American, Latino, and Iberian Studies presents a staged reading in Spanish of Morir, a contemporary Catalan play about the fine line between life and death.

The play is written and directed by visiting NEH Artist in Residence, Sergi Belbel and will be performed by the students of Literary Spain (LALIS 321).

Originally from Terrassa (near Barcelona), Sergi Belbel is a playwright and screenwriter, as well as a theatre director and translator. His numerous accolades include the National Prize for Dramatic Literature from the Government of Catalonia (1993-1995) and the National Prize for Dramatic Literature from the Ministry of Culture of Spain (1996). In 2005, he was named Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Catalonia, a post that he held until 2013.
