Locker Room Talk and its (Dis)Contents: Vulgarity at the Market and Beyond
Keller Hall, Reception Room
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures welcomes Dr. Suzanne Menair, assistant professor of anthropology at Colby College.
Dr. Menair has done extensive research on how ideologies of masculinity and capitalism are presupposed, entailed and enacted through financial traders’ everyday talk on Chicago’s financial trading floors. Her primary research interests concern semiotic analyses of everyday interactions, specifically how language use shapes our conceptions of self and nature.
This event is free and open to the public.
