One Book, One Richmond Panel Discussion Program
Thursday, September 28, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This panel presentation by native Pakistanis will initiate the university’s discussion of the 2017-2018 One Book, One Richmond selection of The Faithful Scribe: A Story of Islam, Pakistan, Family, and War.  The book is authored by Shahan Mufti, Assistant Professor of Journalism at the University of Richmond.  Panelists will discuss various themes within the book, such as the geography, culture, and politics of Pakistan.  Panelists include Dr. Saif Mehkari, Associate Professor of Economics, Robins School of Business; Mariam Eqbal, Affiliate Graduate Faculty for the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University and an adjunct professor in the Department of Arts and Humanities at the University of Richmond, Richmond, Virginia; and Malik Khan, retired Philip Morris engineer and former President of the Islamic Center of Richmond.
