    This lecture considers how Spanish is present in U.S. politics, culture, and society. Starting in the nineteenth century, Lozano will demonstrate how Spanish was a language of politics in the Southwest and how it has become a language of politics again. In doing so, Lozano reconsiders what it means to be an American.
