Tyler Haynes Commons, CCE Think Tank
The Justice in the River City Exhibition was previously a public exhibition at UR Downtown that celebrated and showcased the 10-year history of the Harry L. Carrico Center for Pro Bono & Public Service.
In the past 10 years, the Carrico Center has launched more than a dozen programs aimed at serving a specific community needs. These offerings provide today’s students with an extensive collection of skills and experiences.
This DIY project will be composed of three separate activities that impacts organizations that the Carrico Center has connected with:
- Encourage a Child to Read - decorate inspirational bookmarks for the children of Peter Paul development center in their development of a lifelong love of reading
- Write to Your Representative - learn who your local, state, and/or federal representatives are by visiting http://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/, and address your postcard accordingly. Identify yourself as a constituent and share why the particular issue area you are writing about is important and any personal connection you may have with the issue. The postcard will be mailed for you.
- Share a Message of Hope - one of the most frequently requested items needed at the VCU Massey Cancer Center is tissues. Decorate a strip of paper to be taped around tissue packets with a positive design and/or positive message for patients.
