Life and Taxes: How Our Tax Laws and Policies Are Also Taxing Our Low-Income Communities

The Carrico Center continues its popular Law Over Lunch CLE series with a program that delves into a topic that affects everyone in our country: taxes.

There are many are common misnomers about our tax laws and policies: low-income individuals and families are too poor to pay taxes; the tax code is designed to place the greatest tax burden upon the wealthy; undocumented individuals and families do not pay taxes at all. Nancy Rossner, Senior Staff Attorney with the Community Tax Law Project, will help separate fact from fiction on how both our federal and state tax codes affect those most vulnerable in our society.
