Dir. Raoul Peck | France, USA, Belgium, SUI | 2016 | 93 min.

This powerful documentary draws from James Baldwin’s writings and personal account of the lives and assassinations of three close friends— Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Baldwin’s prophetic words connect the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement to #BlackLivesMatter.

This film is part of African Film Weekend, an annual festival of contemporary film which features a selection of the most highly-acclaimed work produced throughout Africa and the diaspora. The 2017 festival is presented by Dr. Kasongo Kapanga of the University of Richmond and guest curator Dr. Aliko Songolo of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Friday, September 29 at 3 & 7:30 p.m.
