Dir. Gianfranco Rosi | Italy - France | 2016 | 108 min.

This Oscar-nominated documentary takes us on a journey to Lampedusa, a remote Mediterranean island that has become a major entry point for the current influx of refugees hoping to make a new life in Europe. Witness the devastation through the eyes of Samuele, a local 12-year-old who, like many of the locals, goes about daily life as normal—as thousands make the brutal journey across the sea. Director Gianfranco Rosi juxtaposes these realities, exploring the global and local response to the migrant crisis.

Friday afternoon introduction and post-film discussion led by Dr. Lidia Radi, Associate Professor of French and Italian.

Friday, November 10 at 3 & 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m.
