DIVERSE IDEAS. BROAD IMPACT. The University of Richmond is celebrating its commitment to advancing dialogue on topics crucial to the nation and global society with the 2017-18 Sharp Viewpoint Speakers Series. President Ronald A. Crutcher will engage prominent thought leaders with unique and different perspectives on hotly debated issues of our time, including free speech, immigration, and identity. 

PERSPECTIVES ON IMMIGRATION: Karl Rove
Columnist, Political Strategist, and Former Deputy Chief of Staff to George W. Bush

Karl Rove is an iconic political strategist and sought-after political pundit. He served as senior advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000–07 and deputy chief of staff from 2004–07. He writes a weekly op-ed for The Wall Street Journal and appears frequently on Fox News. He has been called a “master political strategist” by The Washington Post columnist David Broder and “the greatest political mind of his generation,” by Fred Barnes, executive editor of The Weekly Standard. He is the author of Courage and Consequence and The Triumph of William McKinley: Why the Election of 1886 Still Matters.

The Sharp Viewpoint Speakers Series is a program of the Office of the President and the Richmond Scholars Program. The series was established in 2011 in honor of Richard L. Sharp, a nationally recognized entrepreneur, to present competing views on topics crucial to our nation and global society.
