Whitney Asher, the Founder and CEO of The Marketing Mixtape, a branding and promotions company that helps musicians reach their fans through coaching, PR campaigns, and graphic design services, has a unique viewpoint having broken into a cross-section of the marketing and music industries. Not having always been the plan, Whitney has insight into what it means to switch career trajectories and how you might know that you could too! A 2012 Spider graduate with a BA in Studio Art and Rhetoric and Communications and an MS in Business & Strategy from VCU Brandcenter, Whitney changed her major five times and interned at five different companies before discovering her passion for the music industry. Now at the intersection of branding and music, she realizes how each class she took and internship she held paved the path to discovering her true passion.

Career Chats offer the opportunity to learn from Spider alumni and friends of the University about career paths in a variety of industries and numerous topics relevant to *you*. These small virtual chats provide an intimate setting for you to hear about interesting paths taken by our hosts, ask questions regarding the industry in which they work and other post-grad experiences, and make meaningful connections with University of Richmond’s alumni network and beyond. Students of all class years and majors, in all stages of their career exploration, are welcome to participate.

Students abroad are welcome to participate in the chats virtually.
