Throughout South African culture, trees are representative of life and often mark the physical space where many disagreements are adjudicated and reconciled by community elders — a fitting symbol adopted by the South African Constitutional Court.

Community members are encouraged to join members of UR's campus community for a scenic and reflective cross-campus walk marked by illuminated trees and multiple pop-up stations of South African culture and influence. The trek across campus will explore themes of justice, reconciliation, commemoration, and environmental stewardship, among others.

The walk officially kicks off on the patio of the International Center with a brief performance at 5:00 p.m. Participants may complete the walk at their own pace up until 6:30 p.m. The walking path ends at the Heilman Dining Center for the annual International Dinner, featuring a complete menu of South African fare.

The walk is free, but special dinner rates apply at the Dining Center.

Visitors to campus should plan to park in lots R42, R43, R45, or R47.
