A director is sent a video from a young actress who whose parents have forbidden her from pursuing acting. Devastated, she appears to commit suicide on camera. Renowned actress Behnaz Jafari and director Panahi, playing themselves, travel to the woman’s home village in Iran to investigate, weaving a subversive narrative that skirts the lines of fiction and reality.
