High-Impact Teaching with Human Subject Research Projects

Oct 28
University of Richmond

Do you provide students with opportunities to design and/or contribute to research projects as part of your courses? Many faculty use student-centered learning methods that ask learners to take an active role in understanding the field’s theories, concepts, and findings, and also to contribute to the ongoing creation of knowledge. When students work on research projects that contribute to generalizable knowledge and involve studying people, they must also learn about the ethics of such research and complete the process of ethics review required by the University's IRB.

Please join the Faculty Hub and Don Forsyth, IRB Chair, for a presentation outlining the steps to take to reduce some of the burden when your teaching involves research projects with human participants. The presentation, which will be recorded for later viewing, will be followed by an open Q&A, which will not be recorded to ensure participant privacy.
