Listening Session on Naming Principles for SPCS Students & Alumni

Oct 28
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Online via Zoom

The University’s Naming Principles Commission is hosting a listening session specifically for SPCS students and alumni. The discussion will be facilitated by visiting lecturer and public historian Lauranett Lee. Several members of the Naming Principles Commission will also attend.

The Naming Commission is charged to develop recommendations for

  1. Principles to provide consistent guidance for decisions related to naming, across applications of names (e.g., buildings, professorships, programs, etc.)
  2. A process by which the principles would be applied to specific cases

The listening session is an opportunity for SPCS students and alumni to share views with the Commission as it works to collect and consider perspectives to inform recommendations to President Hallock and the Board of Trustees in the spring.

This event is open to SPCS students and alumni, who are encouraged to attend and lend their voices to this important issue.
