The Wagner & Kong Duo is praised for their musical sensitivity, impacting diverse audiences in transformative concert experiences. Internationally-acclaimed German cellist Christoph Wagner and UR faculty pianist Joanne Kong bring their extraordinary musical passion to works by Debussy, Mendelssohn, Martinu and Paganini. From the sensitive timbres and grotesque characters of Debussy's groundbreaking sonata, to Mendelssohn's uplifting and profound masterpiece, to the sparkling virtuosity and joy of Martinu and Paganini—this program features the full spectrum of sound and inspiration of both the cello and piano.

This concert is offered as part of the Department of Music Free Concert Series 2022 - 2023 Season. The Department of Music produces over 20 concerts annually featuring a broad range of styles and genres. Enjoy student recitals, faculty ensemble performances, and concerts created in collaboration with visiting artists. All concerts are free and seating is general admission.
