Mid-Career Faculty Summit

Friday, January 26, 8:30-3:30 pm, Multi-purpose Space in the Faculty Hub

Once you earned tenure or reached a particular career goal, did you ask yourself, "What's next?" Reaching a milestone in your career is a wonderful achievement and opens up new possibilities, just as reaching the summit of a mountain yields new views. UR's third annual Mid-Career Summit is a one-day professional development opportunity for associate professors to explore their unique challenges and how to enhance the ability to navigate career progression in a supportive and collegial environment.

The Summit's facilitators, Nancy Chick (Director of the Endeavor Foundation Center for Faculty Development, Rollins College) and Linda Boland (Associate Provost for Faculty, University of Richmond), will lead faculty through a professional development program that will lay a strong foundation to navigate in and through mid-career. The overarching goal is to both acknowledge challenges and help you move forward in a productive and manageable way.

Participation in the Summit will help mid-career faculty establish a strong foundation to be able to:

  • communicate career strengths and areas for growth,
  • articulate professional contribution,
  • identify needs and sources of support necessary to advance professional (and personal) goals,
  • begin to design short- and long-term goals, with corresponding action steps, and
  • contribute in meaningful ways to professional advancement

The Summit is on Friday, January 26 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

Associate professors from all five schools who are not currently undergoing evaluation for promotion are invited. Please register here and please contact Linda Boland, Associate Provost for Faculty with any questions about the Summit.
