Family Arts Day, presented by Modlin Center and UR Museums, offers hands-on art activities for children and families, a Latin dance workshop, a free performance of Latin Ballet’s Fiesta Del Sol, and refreshments. All aspects of this event are free and open to the public. Tickets are required for the dance performance.

Latin Ballet of Virginia’s Fiesta Del Sol (Party of the Sun) celebrates the culture and traditions of the Caribbean with its mix of influences rooted in its rich heritage and shaped by its long history of colonization. Fiesta del Sol dances to the rhythms of Rumba, Salsa, Calypso, Merengue, Cumbia, Plena, Mambo, Danson, Soca, Bachata, Reggae, Reggaeton, and Bomba, with live music by Kevin Davis & Ban Caribe Ensemble. Join us on an exhilarating journey that honors and celebrates the influences that transformed Latin American culture into what it is today.

Founded in 1997 in Richmond, Virginia, Latin Ballet of Virginia is Central Virginia’s pre-eminent Hispanic dance company, performing throughout the state and at select venues in North and South America. LBV is a professional dance company and school of dance, providing multicultural programs, instruction, and performances for a diverse community.
