Gary Machlis

Sustainability for the Forgotten

Oct 23
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Gottwald Auditorium A001, Gottwald Center for the Sciences

Join the Department of Geography, Environment, & Sustainability, Environmental Studies Program, and Global Studies Program for a lecture presented by Gary Machlis, university professor of environmental sustainability at Clemson University, as part of the Global Environmental Speaker Series.

This event will be centered around Dr. Machlis’s most recent book, published under the same title, Sustainability for the Forgotten. A book that confronts the history, policies, and practices of sustainability. With examples that range from the coffee lands of El Salvador to the coal country of American Appalachia, from the streets of Detroit to refugee camps in Greece and the upscale metro centers of the affluent, sustainability is examined with a critical eye and an emphasis on ensuring that the forgotten are heard.
