Founded in 2007, GALLIM is a Brooklyn–based contemporary dance company performing original work by Andrea Miller, a former company member of Batsheva Dance whose choreography is known for its visceral movement. The program will include SAMA of which Miller writes, “In the digital and information age we might be numbing our bodies as the fundamental key of being in the world and knowing it. Is this the beginning of an apocalypse of the body? There are essential, ambiguous, and complex elements of our humanity that we can only be accessed through our physical experience … The body is the chance of being without reducing."
The Guardian wrote of SAMA, "Miller plugs into some primal pulse, awakening (and ultimately pummeling) the senses, the dancers living intensely in their bodies." Meanwhile, DanceTabs captured the work's vivid immediacy, writing "The sheer stamina, strength, and power the projected with exaggerated gusto changed the atmosphere within seconds."
