This talk will present the results of excavations of the American School of Classical Studies in the center of ancient Athens over the past decade. New finds have shed light on various matters: an elusive hero, an ancient art gallery, a famous philosophical school, Athenian portraiture, and the origins of Athenian democracy.
Caroline Arbuckle MacLeod, assistant professor of Classical and Near Eastern archaeology, studies the history of woodworking in ancient Egyptian through the development of wooden coffins. In addition to this main research focus, she is also involved in projects that explore the history of women in Egyptian archaeology, and the use of digital media to promote or explore archaeology.
