Community Tree Planting

Join us for a tree planting event in Jackson Ward. This project developed through collaboration between the Historic Jackson Ward Association and the University of Richmond's Spatial Analysis Lab (Department of Geography, Environment, & Sustainability,). During the summer, undergraduate students conducted an urban heat study of Jackson Ward sidewalks, identifying areas with the highest temperatures and available tree wells where new plantings could help provide some cooling relief.

We'll be planting a few trees in locations identified through this research. Come help us add some green space to the neighborhood while learning about the connection between tree coverage and urban heat. All skill levels welcome.
