Italian & French Film Festival at Richmond

Friday, March 27 through Monday, March 30, 2026

Join us for four days of Italian and French cinema on the University of Richmond campus and in the city. Building on the success of our March 2025 Italian Film Festival, which welcomed approximately 500 attendees, this expanded edition, combining the best of contemporary Italian and French cinema, will take place March 27–30, 2026.

The festival is organized by faculty from the University of Richmond’s Department of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures and the Film Studies Program, together with colleagues from the University of Cambridge’s Italian program.

The 2026 festival will feature:

• Screenings of extraordinary, thought-provoking films from Italy and France on the University of Richmond campus and the historic Bryd Theater. 
• Roundtables and lectures with international filmmakers and guest scholars.
• Opening and closing receptions bringing together artists, students, and the Richmond community.
• Special 60th anniversary screening of Gillo Pontecorvo's masterpiece, The Battle of Algiers (1966) at the Bryd Theater. 

All events are free and open to the public.
