The Robins School of Business will host the next installment of C-Suite Conversations, a signature series designed to engage and inform our campus community and the greater Richmond business community.

Please join us for a candid and thought-provoking discussion as Professor Richard Coughlan interviews Beth Matish, Chief Executive Officer of Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of the HCA Virginia Health System. As the leader of one of the region’s most significant acute-care institutions, Matish operates at the center of one of the economy’s most complex and rapidly evolving sectors.

A dynamic healthcare executive with more than two decades of experience within HCA Healthcare—the nation’s largest for-profit hospital system—Matish has held senior leadership roles across multiple Richmond hospitals, including CEO of Retreat Doctors’ Hospital and executive positions at Parham and Henrico Doctors’. At Johnston-Willis, she oversees a hospital recognized for its nationally distinguished neuroscience program, comprehensive stroke center, and expanding suite of innovative clinical services.

HCA Healthcare, with over 180 hospitals and more than 2,300 care sites nationwide, plays a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of healthcare in the United States. In Virginia, its network serves hundreds of thousands of patients each year, leveraging scale, clinical specialization, and data-driven quality initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the community.

This conversation will explore Matish’s leadership journey, the operational realities of running a major hospital, and the strategic priorities driving HCA’s work in Central Virginia and beyond. Together, we will also examine the broader trends transforming the healthcare landscape.

We hope you will join us on our beautiful campus and take advantage of this opportunity to connect with leaders from across the region. We look forward to welcoming you.
