Exploring Ancient and Medieval Coins

David Hershey, Collections Manager and TMS Administrator, introduces the new display of coins in the newly-renovated and re-curated Lora Robins Gallery. In the 1970s, the Lora Robins Gallery received multiple donations of Ancient and Medieval coins.  These donations predominantly contained coins of the Byzantine Empire, the Islamic Caliphates, and the Crusader States.  The coin collection totals more than 15,000 pieces, of which only a fraction of have previously been on display or available to the University community.
