Join the Department of Art & Art History for a panel discussion on the reconstruction of community, history, and identity in the built environment.

Jeannine Keefer, visual resources librarian, will moderate the discussion. Our panelists include: 

  • Bryan Clark Green, visiting associate professor of practice, Virginia Tech
  • Gardiner Hallock, senior vice president for preservation and operations, Monticello 
  • Meghan Gough, associate professor, Urban and Regional Studies and Planning Program, VCU
  • Burt Pinnock, principal and board chair, Baskervill

Discussion topics will include (and are not limited to): changing approaches to history and technology informing the interpretation and care of historic sites; community informed design of memorials and spaces devoted to reconstructing memory; and approaches to including history and community experiences in urban plans and policy.

Reception begins at 6 p.m. and panel discussion begins at 6:30 p.m. Time will be allotted for questions from the audience.
