The University of Richmond Black Alumni Network (URBAN) invites alumni to close out Black History Month with a powerful, joy-filled celebration of culture, community, and Black excellence. Black Excellence Weekend brings alumni together for two unforgettable days of art, connection, and recognition.

Attendees may register for one or multiple events throughout the weekend.

Exhibit Visit: Giants at the VMFA

Join fellow Spiders in Richmond for a once-in-a-lifetime visit to Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA). With the exhibition set to leave the VMFA just two days later, this experience offers a fleeting opportunity to engage with iconic works by Black artists across the African diaspora.

URBAN Black Excellence Weekend Reception

Following the exhibit visit, join alumnus Jasmonn Coleman, '98 and UR Alumni Engagement staff member Amaya Jones, for a private URBAN reception. This gathering provides space for meaningful conversation, reflection, and connection with fellow alumni and friends as we celebrate Black Excellence Weekend together.

These events are apart of the URBAN's Black Excellence Weekend, precursors for The Hub for Student Inclusion and Community's 7th Annual Black Excellence Gala. Registration is requested by February 20.
