About the speaker/topic:
Adam Stanaland is an assistant professor of psychology at UR who studies something most guys would rather not talk about: the pressures of being a man. As a social and developmental psychologist, he researches how masculinity norms shape identity and behavior — from boys navigating puberty to men navigating politics — and what it costs people to live up to them. This research has been published in top scientific journals and covered by outlets like Scientific American, Vox, PBS NewsHour, and Men's Health.
