URBAN Donning of the Kente Ceremony

The University of Richmond Black Alumni Network (URBAN) warmly invites you to attend this year’s Donning of the Kente Ceremony, a powerful celebration welcoming the Class of 2026 into the alumni community.
A new chapter begins when one becomes an alumnus, and this ceremony is the first step. Graduating seniors will be honored for their achievements and presented with a commemorative Kente stole, symbolizing this meaningful milestone and their lifelong connection to the network. Alumni presence is an essential part of this tradition, affirming students’ place within URBAN and strengthening the bonds between generations.
A reception will follow the ceremony, offering time to connect with graduating seniors, alumni, faculty, and staff and forge relationships that will sustain URBAN across generations.
