Grammy-winning Hammond organist, composer, and bandleader, Cory Henry and his Funk Apostles band create an alchemy of gospel-inflected R&B, funk, jazz, and global influences with fearless imagination. With powerhouse grooves, rich harmonies and uplifting, message-driven songs, the group turns every performance into a soulful, dance-filled experience that feels both timeless and boldly modern.

A Brooklyn native and former child prodigy, Cory Henry made his debut at the Apollo Theater at just six years old. He rose to prominence with the jazz-funk collective Snarky Puppy, earning three Grammy Awards during his time with the group. Since launching his solo career, he’s released critically acclaimed albums including Art of Love, Something to Say, Operation Funk, and Live at the Piano. His deeply personal project Church won the Grammy for Best Roots Gospel Album in 2025.

For the Modlin Arts Presents 30th anniversary season, we welcome longtime collaborator and guest curator Christian McBride, a highly acclaimed, bassist, composer, and bandleader recognized as one of the most prolific figures in music. McBride has handpicked performances that illuminate jazz as a vibrant, ever-evolving art form. He will lead artist talks and discussions throughout the weekend.
