Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott) is a five-time Grammy nominated musician, composer, producer, storyteller, chieftain, and innovator. His remarkable musical palette stretches jazz’s conventions to encompass a wide spectrum of musical forms and cultures.

As the grandson of legendary Big Chief, Donald Harrison Sr., and the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary saxophonist-composer, Dr. Big Chief Donald Harrison, Jr., Chief Adjuah keeps the legacy of his forebears alive with his eye on the future. He embraces a 21st-century approach, asserting genre blindness and an ethnomusicological approach to limitless fusion.

For the Modlin Arts Presents 30th anniversary season, we welcome longtime collaborator and guest curator Christian McBride, a highly acclaimed, bassist, composer, and bandleader recognized as one of the most prolific figures in music. McBride has handpicked performances that illuminate jazz as a vibrant, ever-evolving art form. He will lead artist talks and discussions throughout the weekend.
