A charismatic performer, saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin fuses traditional concepts of jazz, hip hop, and soul to create a fresh new sound. With her captivating live performances and dynamic sax work, the six-time Grammy nominee returns to the Modlin Center stage with her sensational band for a standout performance.

A New York City native born and raised in Washington Heights, Benjamin went from playing a recorder in grade school to becoming one of the most sought-after jazz musicians on the music scene. Known for her bold approach and ability to seamlessly blend genres, she has shared stages with Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, The Roots, Macy Gray, and many others.

For the Modlin Arts Presents 30th anniversary season, we welcome longtime collaborator and guest curator Christian McBride, a highly acclaimed, bassist, composer, and bandleader recognized as one of the most prolific figures in music. McBride has handpicked performances that illuminate jazz as a vibrant, ever-evolving art form. He will lead artist talks and discussions throughout the weekend.
