MODLIN ARTS PRESENTS 30TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

Join the Modlin Center for the Arts and Harnett Museum of Art for our annual Family Arts Day, a celebration featuring the vibrant sounds of Afro-Puerto Rican folk music with Richmond-based Kadencia Orchestra, interactive dance and music workshops, and hands-on arts activities led by University of Richmond students.

Pre-show activities start at 1 p.m. Free performance tickets available beginning August 3.

Led by the father-son duo of Maurice Sanabria-Ortiz and Maurice “Tito” Sanabria, Kadencia is dedicated to playing, promoting, and persevering Afro-Puerto Rican music. Since 2018, the band calls Richmond, Virginia home. Its music and sounds pay homage and follow the traditions of Bomba and Plena from western Puerto Rico, utilizing long-rooted storytelling traditions to vividly capture multiple aspects of the Puerto Rican experience.
