Gary L. McDowell Institute presents Lucas Morel

Dr. Lucas Morel, Provost Faculty Fellow and John K. Boardman, Jr. Professor of Politics and Head of the Politics Department at Washington & Lee will present a public lecture, Frederick Douglass Sizes Up Abraham Lincoln: A Debate About the American Promise. Dr. Morel’s work focuses on American government, political theory, Abraham Lincoln, Ralph Ellison, and race and equality.

Dr. Morel is a trustee of the Supreme Court Historical Society, former president of the Abraham Lincoln Institute, a consultant on Library of Congress exhibits on Lincoln and the Civil War, and was a member of the scholarly board of advisors for the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. He has authored several books, including Measuring the Man: The Writings of Frederick Douglass on Abraham Lincoln.
