Uncontested Divorces: Light Lift for the Pro Bono Attorney, Huge Relief for the Grateful Client

Speakers: Lisa Bennett, Esq., Central Virginia Legal Aid Society; Sarah Merryman, Esq., Capital One

(1.5 CLE credits pending)

Uncontested divorce assistance remains the number one requested service of Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, yet staff and pro bono attorneys remain too few to meet this demand. To help bridge this gap, innovative pro bono training and support has been developed to assist attorneys and law students alike to meet this acute need of our community. Our expert presenters will discuss the laws and process governing no fault divorces in Virginia, including best practices for the procedures of pro bono partnerships and engagement.

Please join the Carrico Center as they welcome Lisa Bennett, Director of Pro Bono & Triage Programs with Central Virginia Legal Aid Society, as well as Sarah Merryman, Capital One attorney and pro bono champion, who have partnered in recruiting, training, and mentoring the pro bono community to meet this ongoing need.
