Fifty years after his death, Benjamin Britten's songs still speak with startling intimacy — from the tender rapture of Canticle I: My Beloved is Mine to the quiet grief of Thomas Hardy's verse in Winter Words. The program moves through haunting settings of poems by W.H. Auden and William Blake, and closes with the timeless beauty of some of Britten's most beloved settings of English folksongs. Where Love Abides offers an evening of music that is by turns rapturous, aching, and deeply moving.
Please join Adjunct Voice Instructor tenor William Ferguson and pianist Daniel Stipe as they honor one of the twentieth century's greatest voices in song — fifty years on, his music resonates as powerfully as ever.
